David Horsley

After gaining his degree in Development Economics at UEA, David began his career in sales and marketing to the hotel and restaurant sector, including the formative years of ACS Coffee Service, Express Dairies, Cross Paperware, EcoLab, and Les Routiers which is where the idea of a designated 'marketing service' for hotels and B&B's originated.  David was a member of the Visit Britain Accommodation Grading advisory panel.


Jenny Horsley

Jenny gained a qualification in Hotel Catering and Institutional Management before starting out as a Directors’ Lunch cook and Chalet Girl in Zermatt.  She later joined Kraft as their Catering Adviser producing marketing materials and food photography to promote the company’s catering lines.  Other apointments include working with Courage Brewing as a Catering Adviser and J. Walter Thompson as an Account Executive.  She has written and edited two recipe books and loves nothing better than a quiet afternoon creating in the kitchen!

A 9 month ‘trip around the world’ together in 1987-1988 gave David & Jenny the chance to experience a number of different cultures and was one of the prompts for their decision to start the business. 

In 1989 The Horsley's decided to launch a marketing company for small independent hotels and inns, offering them a quality standard that they could use to promote themselves, as well as affordable access to the international tourism market.  They were granted a license to instigate Logis of Great Britain and at its launch represented 185 hotels in the UK.  Within 6 years the company had grown to over 400 properties, but changes in the parent company forced a re-think. The need for marketing support and international representation remained and so The Circle was born in 1997 to incorporate B&B's as well.

The Horsley's have been growing the business from their base in Oxford ever since and live adjacent to their offices.  They have three daughters of whom they are hugely proud.
